LeBRONZE James
i forgot to write about the world championships!!! my gulay!
anyways.. well i just had to air out my thoughts on the somewhat disappointing finish by Team USA.. i say disappointing since considering the potential these guys had not to mention their paychecks, well a bronze isnt enough...
yada yada.. they only had a month to prepare yada yada yada.. one month? so what?
when a league boasts that its the best in the world... or when NBA champions are regarded as world champions.. well they better live up to it, otherwise, everytime they mention it - in the NBA finals for example or All-star weekend, it will all be just a joke...
any of you guys watched USA battle Greece in the final four? correct! it all seemed that the US went back to where it was when it finished 6th 4 yrs ago in the world championships, or 3rd 2 yrs ago in Athens.... one on one isolation plays, yada yada.. not too much ball rotation, no movement, too many watching and standing around, halfhearted effort, too confident, underestimating the opponent.. yada yada... back to Zero!
heck, dont get me wrong, i love the NBA, i even have a jersey collection too boot!!! James, Duncan, Wade, A.I., etc etc... but watching these new guys.. saluting and all everytime they get a dunk, screaming after a monstrous alley-oop and all... PLEASE!!! grow up!
i was rooting for USA, heck i even loved the dunks, but twas so frustrating... i get to see Wade elevate for 2... then back at Greece, they hit a 3, Paul doing a cross-over wasting too much energy in the process and time but they still hit a 2, back at Greece's camp, smoth passing, bam another 3! ... get the point?
well point is, in international ball, dunks still count as 2 points, crossovers = 0, alley-oop = 2 pts also...
...during commercial breaks they always replay the dunks/spectacular plays US made just before the time-out and none of the crisp pick and rolls or smooth 3 pointers Greece made.. well media i guess...
o well, i'm older than most of these guys anyway so i guess they wouldn't understand or appreciate it as much as i do... o well...
at least i was able to buy myself a Memphis Grizzlies jersey about a year ago i think... and guess what? it's a world champion jersey... an authentic NBA world champion at that... guess who?
i'll give you a clue.. he's Spanish
